Okay, I've asked several questions about the film and Paul Newman's apology for his performance. And I've always been pretty good about answering questions when other hosts have used it as a source. But I've never actually seen it. It's just one of those things like Gigli or Waterworld or Ishtar, so bad that it permeates the consciousness of everyone, even those who never experienced the horror firsthand. That seemed wrong, if I'm going to make fun of a movie at least I should sack up and sit through it. And I can now say, with utmost confidence, that Paul's apology did not do justice to the true awfulness of what unfolded. Compared to the Silver Chalice late 1960's era Adam West Batman comes across as The Godfather, Casablanca and From Here to Eternity all rolled into one. A 3rd-grade class trying to put on a musical titled "Buddha vs Godzilla" could probably do a better job. |
